• Averting Foreclosure: We successfully prevented foreclosure for an elderly parishioner, contacting the mortgage company the day before they were scheduled to file legal action. Our timely intervention stopped the proceedings and she remained in her home while we pursued pro bono legal counsel, advocacy, and community resources to stabilize her housing.

• Winning the Section 8 Lottery: An elderly woman could no longer afford her rent after the death of her relative, for whom she was the primary caretaker. Our swift action ensured she continued to have a stable place to live. By the grace of God, we learned about and successfully applied for Section 8 housing 2 hours before the deadline, securing low-income permanently affordable housing for the remainder of her life.

• Securing Low-Income Senior Housing: We found affordable housing for an 85-year-old elderly widow with early-stage dementia. When her life savings ran out, she could no longer afford her apartment on her limited Social Security income. Facing eviction, she was on the brink of homelessness when we discovered a low-income apartment complex to ensure she had a safe, secure and sanitary place she could afford to live.

• From Hearts and Hands to Preparing for Paradise: An 80-year-old parishioner had no family or friends after his wife died. Hearts and Hands formed a community of 10-15 volunteers to support him with rides to the doctor, picking up prescriptions, grocery shopping, cleaning his house, shoveling his walks, helping with technology, and even fixing his furnace and his car. When he was released into home hospice for the final week of his life, those same dedicated volunteers went to his home multiple times daily to check on him and sat by his bedside praying until he passed to eternal life. 

• Spiritual Accompaniment: Preparing for Paradise has organized teams of volunteers to pray around the bedside of elderly parishioners in their final days and hours preparing to meet God face-to-face. We have accompanied over 25 people in various stages along their journey to meet God face-to-face. 16 have passed to their heavenly reward, 3 are in hospice, 2 are advanced in years, and 4 are socially isolated and need intensive spiritual nourishment. 

• Friendships in Faith: We provided ongoing spiritual companionship to 10+ young people ages 15-35 to help them know and understand more deeply God‘s love for them and grow closer in relationship with Him.
